Surgical Services Program

The Surgical Services Program delivers the majority of surgical services across all Alfred Health sites. The program consists of 16 surgical units, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, operating suite service, surgical inpatient wards, a medical day unit, day of surgery admissions, day surgery and endoscopy service. The program also oversees the elective surgery waiting list, and medical elective waiting list.

The Surgical units are:

  • Burns 
  • General – including Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Hepatopancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Oesophagogastric-Bariatric Surgery (OGB)
  • Head & Neck
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Otolaryngology
  • Plastic, Hand Faciomaxillary and Dental
  • Trauma
  • Urology
  • Vascular

The Role

The Outpatients Clinic Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that patients are appropriately prepared for the consultation, assisting with clinical support and providing management of designated Specialist Clinics.

The Clinic Coordinator manages the patient journey through the SCC. 

A critical aspect of this role includes the management and scheduling of appointments and clinic wait lists to ensure KPI’s are achieved.

The Clinic Coordinator is allocated to specific designated specialist clinics and works closely with Unit Heads, nursing and clerical staff associated with those clinics.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Relevant surgical or wound care nursing experience
  • Recent acute clinical or ambulatory care nursing background in a relevant health service
  • Previous leadership or management experience
