Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

Applications are open for a position as a fractional psychiatrist 16 hours per week, within the Psychological Trauma Service (PTS) at Alfred Health.  This is a fixed term (12 months) position commencing in early July 2024.

The PTS is a new initiative within Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH). The service delivers treatment and support to individuals from the age of 26 years and their families, carers and supporters who experience trauma related psychological distress or personality challenges. The service operates with an interdisciplinary model, including the embedding of peer workers. The service offers specialist psychological treatments in addition to other interventions with the emphasis on flexible and holistic responses. The Consultant Psychiatrist will work in partnership with the psychologist clinical lead and will also supervise a 0.5 registrar. The Consultant Psychiatrist role includes delivery of primary and secondary consultation, treatment and building capacity within AMAH in the context of personality and trauma- related mental health presentations and the delivery of trauma-informed care more broadly.

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, a Fellow of the relevant college. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Psychiatry is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.
