Surgical Services Program

The Surgical Services Program delivers the majority of surgical services across all Alfred Health sites. The program consists of 16 surgical units, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, operating suite service, surgical inpatient wards, a medical day unit, day of surgery admissions, day surgery and endoscopy service. The program also oversees the elective surgery waiting list, and medical elective waiting list.

The Surgical units are:

  • Burns 
  • General – including Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Hepatopancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Oesophagogastric-Bariatric Surgery (OGB)
  • Head & Neck
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Otolaryngology
  • Plastic, Hand Faciomaxillary and Dental
  • Trauma
  • Urology
  • Vascular

The Role

The Associate Nurse Manager (ANUM) is a member of the nursing leadership team within the Surgical Services. They assist the Nurse Manager to provide clinical support and management on the site, assisting with operationalisation of the core values of the organisation. The ANUM has oversight of the efficient running of clinics and to develop and maintain a close working relationship with key stakeholders. The ANUM is responsible for patient and clinic flow, ensuring timely, quality care is achieved, while upholding Alfred Health’s standards and values.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Relevant postgraduate diploma or working toward same
  • Recent acute clinical or ambulatory care nursing background in a relevant health service
