The Department

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Clinical Nurse Educators at The Alfred intensive Care Unit!

Boasting state-of-the-art facilities and technology unique in Melbourne, our ICU is designed to make your day-to-day work that little bit easier. You can just concentrate on what matters most - your patients. Our ICU has 6 clinical pods, each offering you support and the ability to develop a range of skills and experience.

The Role

Working in this role will see you develop and conduct formal and informal local education programs for nurses. You will exemplify and promote excellence in nursing practice by delivering expert nursing care to patients and serving as a role model and resource to nurses. 

Exemplifies and promotes excellence in nursing practice in a specialty area by delivering expert nursing care to patients and serving as a role model and resource to nurses. Conducts formal and informal educational programs/experiences for nurses and works collaboratively with our industry partners in the conduct of postgraduate courses.

You will have significant clinical experience in intensive care nursing, leadership qualities and the ability to influence nursing staff to provide optimal care to patients and families. Masters level of qualification desirable (or working towards).

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Registration (or eligible for registration) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or working toward same, Masters preferred
  • Extensive experience in specialty or equivalent area
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong professional identity
  • Ability to problem solve
